Moving

Well, we are all moved in! I haven't been back to our apartment since it's been empty. I"m sure it will be strange to be there all empty again. I painted the trim and doors in the whole house. It took me 6 days...with help from willing friends and family! It looks SO much better now! Now to all the unpacking...there's so much stuff to put away! Brock's parents were here for 4 days and helped us out a lot. Needless to say, we love being homeowners! I've taken Kinley on a few walks around the neighborhood since we've moved and enjoyed the quiet of a subdivision! I also like knowing that we're here to stay! We won't have to move again in a year because of a lease.

Kinley has gotten so grown lately. All of a sudden she started sitting up, standing while being held and talking non-stop! I don't know when she started all of these things, but she suddenly seems so big to me. She also has fallen into a sleeping pattern with three naps a day and 12 hours of sleep a night...all in her crib with no fuss! She's such a happy, active little girl! She's discovering all the different sounds she can make...some of them a bit ear piercing. Kinley is also exercising her strong-willed personality. She now gets upset if she can't have something she wants or if something is taken away that she's not supposed to play with. She's just so much fun and I love watching her grow! Here's a video of her talking after rolling herself under the end table.

New Parent Panic

Last night we took Kinley swimming in a pool for the first time. We went with some friends to the YMCA where they have a kid's pool area. She seemed indifferent to the whole thing. She didn't cry about the water at all, but didn't seem to love it as much as her bath...it was a but chilly. She did give lots of smiles when a kid would pass by or come see her. Even when she turned purple and started shivering, still no tears. I think as she gets older she will love the water. After we got home, we all hopped in the shower to wash off and as we're rinsing Kinley, she ingests a lot of water. She has a few (maybe 15 but felt longer) seconds where she was choking and trying to catch her breath. It was very scary for me and I started wondering if she got water in her lungs...and so many other irrational thoughts. So we called the after hours nursing service for our pediatrician who (while probably holding back laughter) told us she was fine. I wanted her to sleep with us just to make sure but she wanted to be on her own to sleep. Needless to say...she's fine and we were reminded that we are indeed first time parents!

Crib sleeping

Not too much going on around here. We are breaking Kinley of her habit of sleeping in her swing during naps. The result so far is a tired baby! She'll fall asleep in her crib after fighting it for about 10 minutes, then she wakes up after only maybe 45 minutes of sleep. I'm sure it will get better. Yesterday she was fussing in her crib after we put her in there and we checked on her and found Coal in with her giving her a bath... we took a video then washed her head! That cat loves her so much! We are just a week away from closing on our house and so excited! We can't wait to get all moved in and settled.
